I had been sitting alone beside him, not fully understanding how close he was to death. After being told to leave the room, I sat outside on the front steps. Not long afterward, I heard commotion inside and watched as my grandfather was taken away on a gurney. The circumstances surrounding that final moment stayed with me for years and became a memory I never truly forgot. - [Marijuana: A Memoir, Part 2](https://kickoffministry.com/marijuana-a-memoir-part-2/): After my grandfather died on March 1, 1994, the peaceful life I had known in Burbank began to change. My grandmother was selling the house, and as a child I had no control over what came next. I was sent to Saint Didacus in Sylmar, where I entered a completely different social and economic environment. Clement. He was a World War II veteran, Purple Heart recipient, and UCLA graduate who became a father figure in my life.
