AquaFoz Offers a New Perspective on Iguassu Through Its Aquatic Biodiversity

SÃO PAULO — AquaFoz, located near the entrance to Iguaçu National Park in Foz do Iguaçu, offers visitors an immersive experience into the region's aquatic biodiversity. The aquarium spans 23,000 square meters and holds 3.3 million liters of water, showcasing around 300 species across three floors. It presents a journey through various aquatic ecosystems, from freshwater rivers like the Iguaçu and Paraná to Amazonian and marine environments, highlighting the diversity and ecological importance of Brazil's aquatic habitats beyond the famous waterfalls.

In addition to its exhibits, AquaFoz integrates environmental education and conservation efforts, supporting scientific research on biodiversity and ecological challenges such as microplastics and species conservation. The aquarium aims to connect tourism with a deeper understanding of aquatic ecosystems, encouraging visitors to appreciate the relationships between species and their habitats. This approach broadens the visitor experience in the Iguassu region by emphasizing the environmental significance of its rivers and aquatic life.
