HOUSTON — Eos SENOLYTIX, a biotechnology company focused on mitochondria-targeted geropeptides, has reported early interim results from a study of its lead compound PTC-2105 in aged rats conducted at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The study showed that weekly subcutaneous administration of PTC-2105 preserved motor performance and increased fat-mass loss in the oldest rats, consistent with prior findings in aged mice. These findings support the company's Investigational New Drug (IND)-enabling program with planned first-in-human trials targeted for 2027, pending regulatory clearance.
The study is ongoing with additional cohorts and endpoints being evaluated, including body composition, grip strength, and cognition. PTC-2105 has been well tolerated so far with no adverse safety signals observed. Dr. Kevin Slawin, CEO of Eos SENOLYTIX, said “This preclinical study in aging rats was designed to help evaluate our licensed MitoXcel™ platform technology and its novel mitochondria-targeted” as the company advances its clinical development plan for older adults with sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity.
