CHAPTER 7: Page 5

And then Scripture adds one of my favorite little statements. “He also made the stars.” Today, astronomers and astrophysicists use powerful telescopes to study billions of galaxies. These men and women dedicate their entire careers to exploring the universe. And yet, Genesis describes the creation of the stars with such simplicity. “He also made the stars.” Just think about the billions of galaxies throughout the universe, all part of the extraordinary creation described in Genesis.…

You know, I’ve always been fascinated by something as simple as a seed. Think about an apple. Inside that apple are seeds that can grow into trees capable of producing thousands of additional apples. And those apples contain even more seeds. It’s astonishing how much potential God placed inside something so small. And I think there’s a lesson for all of us. Sometimes the smallest beginnings produce the greatest results. A simple act of kindness.…

Now, something I find interesting is how creation unfolds in an organized sequence. On the second day, God creates the sky, separating the waters covering the earth from the waters above. Now, the Bible doesn’t explain exactly what those waters above were, and I’m not going to pretend I know either. There’s no need to fake the funk. But perhaps that’s something worth thinking about. Genesis doesn’t answer every question we might have, and I…

Think about it. We’re surrounded by things that someone had to imagine before they could become a reality. Now, let’s skip the prototypes, angel investors, and all the technical details in between, and jump straight to the finished creation. Walt Disney helped create Mickey Mouse. Alexander Graham Bell developed the telephone. Behind each innovation was someone who brought an idea to life. But according to Scripture, God is eternal. He isn’t limited by the universe…

You know, one thing I want to bring to your attention is the opening words of the Bible. Genesis doesn’t begin by trying to prove that God exists. There’s no lengthy explanation. No scientific argument. No philosophical debate. Now, Genesis is traditionally attributed to Moses, although many biblical scholars believe it developed through multiple written traditions and later editing. So, for the sake of simplicity, I’ll use the term “author,” and I’ll leave it up…
