SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — California homeowners may now qualify for up to $18,300 in combined incentives to add solar power, battery storage, and bidirectional electric vehicle charging to their homes. The incentives combine the California Connected Home Rebate with new PG&E support for dcbel’s Ara Home Energy Station, a system designed to manage solar panels, home batteries, and compatible electric vehicles through one platform. According to dcbel, the technology can automatically shift energy use to lower electricity costs, prepare a home for outages, and send excess electricity back to the grid.

The program is aimed at helping homeowners become more energy independent while reducing strain on the power system. dcbel says a compatible electric vehicle battery could provide backup power for several days during an outage, while solar charging and energy management may also reduce annual utility costs. PG&E incentives include upfront support for eligible customers, with additional funding available for some communities and early participants. Availability is limited, and dcbel says remaining rebate spots are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
